On January 26, 2023, a military pilot near Eglin Air Force Base reported four radar contacts between 16,000 and 18,000 feet and visually acquired one rounded, cone-like orange-red object. The event sounds like a chain of connected anomalies, especially when a radar circuit breaker later tripped. AARO found no evidence that every element shared one cause: the recorder was not functioning, the circuit breaker had a history of unrelated trips, and the visible target was likely a lighter-than-air or lighting balloon.

The absence of continuous video is not proof of suppression; it is a concrete data loss that limits what anyone can responsibly calculate.
