The 2022 hearing used the clip to demonstrate the typical speed at which military aircraft may approach an unknown object—not to establish extraordinary target performance. Without range and full geometry, the visual rush mostly tells us that the encounter had high closing speed.

The fun of this case is physical: try spotting the target at normal speed, then step frame by frame and feel how little evidence nine seconds contain.

Our visual system interprets a rapid crossing as rapid target motion, but the camera is attached to a military aircraft that is also moving fast.

The correct ending is not disappointing: it preserves a genuine operational unknown while refusing to invent performance numbers the clip cannot supply.
